Summary of what we do
The work of our group in centered around developing and applying innovative Bayesian methods to important applied research questions on Ecology and Tropical diseases. As a result, some of the work we do is more methodological in nature while some of it is more focused on the research question itself.
Expectations
I expect members of my lab to have a strong quantitative background and a keen interest in improving their modeling skills, particularly on Bayesian methods. Furthermore, the applied aspect of the research is also important. I am generally happiest when we can tackle a problem that has important policy implications with a really cool new method.
Financial support
Besides the funding available through my ongoing projects, there are often multiple other sources of funding that we can compete for (e.g., university fellowships, NSF Graduate Research, or Ford Foundation Fellowships; see below). Send me an email if you would like to explore some of these opportunities to join our group. Information on UF's Graduate School admission can be found here.
